Schneider Electric PH launches Green Electrician’s Laboratory for Leg-Up to 30 Youths

  • Schneider Electric partners with Don Bosco Technical College to launch the Green Electrician’s Laboratory to train a minimum of 30 underprivileged youths per year and will be will be awarded NC2 for Electrical Installation and Maintenance from TESDA.
  • The Lab is equipped with high-end educational tools and an improved curriculum that will educate students of green and sustainable energy management.

Manila (Philippines) - June 21, 2017 -- Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, partnered with the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) in launching the Green Electrician’s Laboratory project on June 21, 2017 at the DBTC Technical-Vocational Education and Training Center, Mandaluyong City.

Schneider Electric Foundation and Schneider Electric Philippines are supporting the DBTC Technical-Vocational Education and Training in teaching the electrical profession and developing quality technical training for unskilled, underprivileged youths through the Green Electrician’s Laboratory. Providing high-end didactic tools and equipment, and an upgraded 14-month curriculum, the project will be teaching a minimum of 30 students annually and will be given on-the-job trainings on Electrical Installation and Maintenance.

In line with Schneider Electric’s bid for sustainable energy management, part of the Green Electrician’s Laboratory curriculum are course work and trainings on house and building wiring, fundamentals of electrical safety, troubleshooting and monitoring of electrical installation in residential and commercial buildings, basics of residential solar energy system installations, running a small business, and life skills including spoken and written English, basics of computer, soft skills, entrepreneurship.

Upon completion of the training, students will each be awarded a National Certification 2 (NC2) qualification for Electrical Installation and Maintenance from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Through the Green Electrician’s Laboratory, we aim to educate the children of today and instill in them the value of green and sustainable energy management and its impact on the environment.”
